deckardcanineAs you probably all know, yesterday was the centennial of one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history. It turns out that at least five people who were in San Francisco at the time are still alive, and they got together for a photo that's in my newspaper. Their first names are Chrisse, Frances, Herb, Olive, and Violet.
Notice that they're 60% botanical.
Now I'm thinking that the next time I name someone lovable -- child, pet, or fictional character -- I'll choose Iris, Ivy, Ginger, Daisy, Rose, Ash, Liana, or some other plant. The better to make them supreme survivors.

I do have my own story about names, however.
My Girlfriend says I should name my first daughter Memory. The reason being that I have trouble remembering names and have been relying on my girlfriend for help. She apparently wants to make sure I'm taken care of in cause I'm ever without her.
