Minutes ago, I completed the daily crossword at the Merriam-Webster site. One clue read, "Opposite of stet." You'd think that a copy editor who readily uses "stet" would know, but I had to work around the answer, which was "DELE."

Minutes later, as I progressed on the daily crossword in The Express, I came to a clue that read, "Dele's opposite."

I won't forget now.

Cruciverbalists' concept of "opposite" is terribly elastic.

Hm, you're right. I kept thinking something was amiss there.

Hee. I love crosswords for occasional vocabulary boosts. Some get a bit repetitive after a while (after all, there's only so many three-letter words), but occasionally there's one stuck in there that just makes you go 'oooooh' in a geeky word-lover sense.

It so happens that the same two sources' crosswords today have "STET" for an answer. :-/
