More word game news. Today I tried a site with Bible-themed word games. Terribly few could be played online; you have to print or download them, neither of which I will do during a down time at work. (I don't have a printer at home, either.) I did play some Hangman with an ASCII hanging figure. The site either had few clues available or did a poor job of mizing them, because it never took me long to get "JONAH" again. But what really bothered me was the message upon completion of a word:
"PRAISE GOD!!!!! The sinner has repented!!!"
Out of curiosity, I gave too many wrong guesses on purpose. When that happens, the game merely tells you that you can't guess anymore and gives the answer. Nothing anachronistically horrible there.
EDIT: Many of the games, such as acrostics, yield a quote in the solution. Those quotes are usually from someone like C.S. Lewis or Origen, but then there's this:
"As a race, we feel empty. This is because our spirituality has been wiped out and we don't know how to express ourselves." –- Sinead O'Connor
They're quoting a notoriously anti-religion celeb (she said her affront to the Pope was meant for religion in general) to support religion? My.
