I saw Kevin Pease nominate someone for "Asshole of the Year" last year. That person had refused to pay for a mostly eaten but allegedly unsatisfactory $40+ restaurant meal and would argue on the court level that it was a matter of principle, saying that he was always allowed not to pay at other restaurants (probably by being so adamant, if that's true).
The year is still new, but I have a nomination, Kevin:

I'd been trying not to dwell on negatives lately, but something like this doesn't deserve to be uncommented.

If you want an introduction to his Discworld novels, you may want to start with the first book in each arc (the wizard arc, the witches arc, the night watchmen arc, and the Death arc). I think those are "The Colour of Magic", "Wyrd Sisters", "Guards! Guards!", and "Mort" respectively. I was also quite fond of "Hogfather", if you prefer a stand-alone work. More details here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discworld
His collaboration with Neil "Sandman" Gaiman on "Good Omens" was also very good.
