I saw Kevin Pease nominate someone for "Asshole of the Year" last year. That person had refused to pay for a mostly eaten but allegedly unsatisfactory $40+ restaurant meal and would argue on the court level that it was a matter of principle, saying that he was always allowed not to pay at other restaurants (probably by being so adamant, if that's true).

Yeesh, the homeless should do what they did in Terry Pratchett's Ankh Morpork: form a guild and charge the fancy-shmancy people big bucks to stay away from their ritzy storefronts. The Beggar's Guild became one of the richest guilds in the city using that racket.

Last month I put Terry Pratchett on my wish list. He's too popular a sci-fi humorist for me to go without reading at least partly. (I read books slowly, which is one reason I haven't gotten to buying one of his yet.)

Hmmm, what would I recommend as a good starter....

If you want an introduction to his Discworld novels, you may want to start with the first book in each arc (the wizard arc, the witches arc, the night watchmen arc, and the Death arc). I think those are "The Colour of Magic", "Wyrd Sisters", "Guards! Guards!", and "Mort" respectively. I was also quite fond of "Hogfather", if you prefer a stand-alone work.
