In your opinion, who's worse: (A) someone who does something bad, tries to hide it, and publicly rails against the practice; or (B) someone who does something bad and acts like there's no problem with the practice?

Hypocrisy seems to be one of the most universally hated offenses. Not just these days, either -- depending on the sin in question, Dante would probably assign person A the worse fate. Nevertheless, I choose B. At least A means to limit the overall damage, possibly even bringing about more good than bad.

But maybe this is a moot point. It's best to be neither A nor B.

I'd go with B. being worse as well.

A. reflects badly on A., but enough B.'s will make the bad behavior tolerated in society.
