Snakes

Among the world’s most common human fears,
These creatures have no eyelids, legs, or ears.
Their tongues are forked to help them smell their prey.
Their slither’s slow; you might just get away,
But if you don’t, they’ll strike with blinding speed
And might unhinge their jaws so they can feed
On larger things like humans. Some have fangs
With venom so you’ll likely die in pangs.
Some other species wrap around your chest
Until you start to take your final rest.
You wouldn’t want to face one in a battle.
Some even have a built-in warning rattle,
Though most will make no noise except a hiss.
If snakes weren’t real, they’d make great beasts of myths.
