Resolutions Revisited
I’ve said before I never made a New Year’s resolution,
But this year I decided I should try the institution.
Why bother? Well, my notion came in mid- to late December.
To wait a few weeks longer made it easy to remember.
And part of me still wanted to maintain the status quo
Until I reached the deadline. Was I silly? I dunno.
I guess I ought to tell you what I now resolve to change:
I’ll shrink from all political discussions. Is that strange?
I may continue reading them and listen as before,
But post replies and even click on “Like” I’ll do no more.
The change is not forever, but I hope it lasts a while.
It might just cleanse my soul a bit and brighten up my style.
I’ll see if I do better at a change when I’ve delayed it.
(And if you disrespect my choice, you’re part of why I made it.)
