Not everything in this profanity-laced rant surprises me, but I'd put #6 nearer the top of the list. It's arguably criminal activity like this that makes me wonder if I should cut back on films.

Ah, Hollywood accounting, I've heard the horror stories. Never, ever work for a cut of the profit, the accountants will make you work for free.

The script stealing has been going on for generations. My mother's uncle wrote the script for "Oil for the Lamps of China" and Hollywood made a movie out of it without paying him a dime or crediting him in any way. The only real way to secure your story is to get it published first, then pitch it to Hollywood.

This is why I've given up on screenwriting and went to novel writing. Easier to control my own property and see profit for it.

I was surprised by the *degree* of slimy bookkeeping. Ugh.

Tell me about it. I've wondered why Gump & Co. never made it to screen. Seems that short-term greed led to shorter long-term profits. But then, Hollywood isn't known for thinking far ahead.
