Bad news: In preparing to usher this evening for the first time in two months, I forgot the dark pants requirement until it was too late to go home and change. Had I checked my phone for messages this morning, it wouldn't have happened. The man at the desk said I couldn't usher.
Good news: Tho I didn't ask, he also said I could watch the show anyway without a ticket, seeing as (1) I'd come all the way there, (2) the weather was bad, and (3) I had a good track record otherwise. So just this once, I had the benefits of being an usher with none of the costs, aside from showing up well ahead of the start of the play. Not that I would've worked much anyway, since the programs were already stuffed and fewer customers than expected came to the balcony, but the break did let me bring a book and doff my tie for a change.
Uncertain news: While tonight's Trouble in Mind was one of my parents' favorite Arena Stage productions ever, they find it increasingly bothersome to have to reach the waterfront area by 6:30 on Friday. We'll see about switching to Saturday afternoons; if that's not an option, we may drop out altogether. I could go any way.
