Poetry Week, Day 6

You’ve got to be kidding me; say it ain’t so!
What’s wrong with you people? You all ought to know
That when enemies threaten the Hyrule king’s throne,
We mustn’t rely on one person alone!

And who is this person? A feminine boy!
I wouldn’t equip him with more than a toy!
This “Hero of Time” hasn’t lived many years,
And all that stand out are his angular ears!

You think he’ll strike terror in Ganondorf’s heart?
He hardly looks brawny and doesn’t sound smart!
In fact, has he stated one word in your presence?
I’d sooner give weapons to all of the peasants—

Hang on; what just glowed on the back of his hand?
The Triforce of Courage? I don’t understand.
You’re saying the goddesses made him their champ?
They’d do that to someone who dressed like a tramp?

And now he’s amassing the items we’ll need
Much faster than I could. All right, I concede:
The boy sure has guts, and I’m starting to think
That the fate of the kingdom will count on young Link.

The little green man climbs up the lofty tower
To defeat the big black floating dude with far, far too much power
I mash the buttons carefully but fail to get in hits
Then smash the golden cartridge into little tiny bits.
