Good news and, well, sort of good news
First the unambiguously good news:
sleepyjohn00 happily surprised me this week by persuading Neotravis at the Cross Time Cafe Forums to devote a forum to "Downscale"! Not that I have many fans there yet, but I can expect more attention. For this reason, I'd like to do a little site renovation (but not too much, or I'd have to change the comic's title). Would someone -- say,
carlfoxmarten -- like to lend me some technical assistance?
Now the mixed news:
octan, I should have listened to you. By the time I gave up on my MacBook Pro, it was well past the warranty, on which I'd flaked. But I expect to sell it for close to the original price, with the bonuses of a few extra downloads (e.g., a highly affordable Office 2010 thanks to my company). It works fine; it just doesn't have all the amenities to which I'm accustomed. Even the once-promising Garage Band is far from friendly to me, tho others have done well with it. And realistically, I'd rarely take advantage of it being a laptop.
In the meantime, today I bought an all-in-one Inspiron with Windows 8 (no touch screen). Yes, I could have gone the tried and true route with 7, but this kinda called to me, partly with its price tag. This time I'll pay attention to that warranty.

The reaction among the other mods was pretty much, "Sh*t, why didn't I think of that? Do it!"
And now *we* get to point out *your* spelling errors... :P
