At Her Brightest
Once there was a girl named Kate.
About to have her first big date,
She had such nerves she couldn’t think
Except to grab the nearest “drink,”
Which proved to be a lava lamp.
She didn’t care: The stuff was damp;
To wet her throat was Kate’s intent,
So down the hatch the liquid went.
Her date arrived and said outright,
“How radiant you look tonight!”
Kate grinned at him and didn’t know
To what degree she’d come to glow.
