My landlord-housemates are in their second week of vacation in Wales. It's been mostly nice to have the house to myself; the cats; and Melissa, whom I rarely saw before this time but has now engaged me in some lengthy, satisfying conversations.

One major downside: they seem to have taken the household's Net connectivity with them. Melissa and I both figured that one of our landlords' computers had to be on for our wireless connections, but neither of us could figure out how to turn the things on. Eventually I realized that they had their surge protectors off, but turning those on didn't help. With some online research by my folks, we determined how to turn on the iMac, but that couldn't connect either. I then turned on something that produced the Boxster option on the screen, but still not a lick of Internet. Maybe I'd need to log in as my landlord rather than Guest. As for the other flatscreen Mac, I can't even find any words on it to indicate the model, much less how to turn it on.

For the most part, I don't use the Net outside of my office except on weekends, when I can just walk to my folks' home. Unfortunately, I recently made a drawing, and my scanner is at home. Looks like I'll have to wait for my landlords' return this weekend to upload it.

The fact that I'm glad they're away but wish they hadn't taken the Net reinforces my notion that my next home should be a single.
