To me, Arr => Argh
Warning: I know that certain of my readers will disagree with my opinion herein, possibly with passion. But just as having readers on both sides of the political spectrum doesn't prevent my occasional partisan entry, so am I undeterred now. At least I had the etiquette not to gripe anywhere else online this year.
As everyone on the Internet knows, today is an informal international holiday. And as readers of one of my entries know, it is IMO the most ill-conceived holiday since the execution of Guy Fawkes. I could see it on one of those playful juvenile calendars where every day is some kind of holiday (Hug a Porcupine Day, Act Your Shoe Size Day), but for me the joke died almost as soon as it was first made known to me two years ago. I understand that the one person who most helped to make this day international is Dave Barry, a humor columnist and author who has about equal chances of amusing me or wasting my time with lameness. Just as well, I think, that he's taking an indefinite break to recover his humor capability.
I forgot about TLAPD until yesterday evening, then decided it was best to brace myself before engaging in my daily webcomic fix. My bracing was somewhat insufficient. It's not restricted to Net geeks who don't mind total non sequiturs. Even "Speed Bump," a syndicated newspaper comic, got in on the deal with an episode that I think is not as clever as usual.
Sniveling marauder wannabes. Now that ninjas have become your natural enemy, I'd like to spring 'em on you. And I know they'd win; they're superior. Ninja all the way.
...Say, that's it. We can't very well have Talk Like a Ninja Day, but we can do our best with ninjingles. Sure, a real ninja would have to think the song rather than sing it, but here goes:
Dashing past the foes
On a night for a wanton slay,
O'er the roofs we go,
Skulking all the way (sh sh sh).
Blades on scabbards ring,
Making spirits bright.
What fun it is to hide and think
A slaying song tonight.
CHORUS:
O, ninja stars, ninja stars!
Ninja all the way!
O what fun it is to hide
And indulge in a wanton slay! HEY!
Ninja stars, ninja stars!
Ninja all the way!
O what fun it is to hide
And indulge in a wanton slay!
A night or two ago,
My feet just had to fly,
And soon a hapless guard
Was slumping on my sai.
The foe was dim and stank.
Misfortune seemed his lot.
I knocked him down a muddy bank;
He never fired a shot.
CHORUS

I do not agree with your stance on ninjas. Pirates are way cooler. :) But the song is pretty damned funny. Did you write it yourself? If so, I'm impressed.
